I’ve noticed that many anglers in Japan wear life jackets when fishing, but most Australian anglers don’t! When I first started fishing, I googled “what should I get to start fishing?” in Japanese, and one of the must-buy items on every Japanese fishing website I checked was a life jacket. In fact, if you visit any online or physical fishing store in Japan, you’ll find a wide variety of life jackets specifically designed for fishing. I wonder if this difference is because Australians, known for their beautiful beaches and strong swimming culture, might feel more confident in the water compared to their Japanese counterparts🤔
However, when I tried to find a suitable fishing life jacket here in Perth, I couldn’t find what I was looking for in physical stores like BCF, Anaconda, or Anglers Fishing World. While they had some life jacket options, none matched what I had in mind. (I do love the variety of products they offer, though—it’s always great to see such a wide selection!)
But then my partner found the perfect life jacket on Amazon!

This is a floating vest, so there’s no need to inflate it manually, which was one of my biggest requirements. On the front, it has two large pockets, two small pockets, a pliers holder, a rod belt, and a removable pouch. There’s also a bottle holder on the side. On the back, it features a large pocket for extra storage.
With this life jacket, not only can you keep yourself safe in case you fall into the water, but you can also free your hands by storing all your gear in its many compartments. 😍
I’ll post a review after using the life jacket in another blog post, so stay tuned for more updates on how it performs in real fishing conditions!

Happy fishing and stay safe out there!
A life jacket should be a must for fishermen’s own safety, I am not saying make it mandatory, but educate the ones that are open minded. .
Lives definitely could be saved, just like wearing a shark deterrent whilst driving, a vest while fishing, it’s a marvellous idea!
Thanks
